The people behind The Learning Lab

Every member of our team brings genuine expertise, a love of teaching, and a commitment to making learning meaningful for every child.

👩‍💼

Kayleigh McInnis

Founder & Program Administrator

Kayleigh brings 15 years of experience in health and medical post-secondary education to The Learning Lab — working her way from instructor, to manager, to director. That background in curriculum design, mentorship, and program leadership shapes everything about how The Learning Lab runs: thoughtfully structured, genuinely hands-on, and built on real educational expertise rather than guesswork.

As founder and Program Administrator, Kayleigh oversees every part of the co-op — from curriculum design to daily operations — with a clear vision: a learning space where kids build real skills through curiosity and hands-on discovery, guided by people who know what great education actually looks like.

Courtney Troniak

Curriculum Creator

Courtney holds dual degrees in History and English, along with a Master of Education, and brings a career's worth of experience teaching learners of every age — from Grade 5 students through adults. She has a particular passion for supporting learners with learning, behavioural, and other special needs, and believes education works best when we meet learners where they are.

Along the way, Courtney spent several years working as a Registered Massage Therapist — a path that eventually led her back into adult education, teaching anatomy, physiology, and pathology. That experience sharpened a particular talent: taking complex information and making it practical, understandable, and genuinely meaningful.

Courtney designs The Learning Lab's curriculum, building the monthly units and lesson plans that give our teachers a thoughtful, structured foundation to work from each week. Outside of teaching, she's happiest with a good book, a garden that needs tending, and a quiet life in Northern Saskatchewan.

Megan

STEM Instructor

Megan's path to teaching didn't start where you'd expect — it started in nursing school back in 2017. She worked as a nurse for over a year before realizing something important: she loved teaching far more than hospital life. Before COVID hit, she made the leap and left nursing to start her own tutoring business.

Not long after, Megan welcomed her oldest daughter and made the choice to become a stay-at-home mom — but she didn't have to give up teaching. Her tutoring business let her do both: raise her girls and keep doing the work that genuinely lights her up. Somewhere along the way, tutoring turned into a love of homeschooling, which brought her to The Learning Lab.

Today, Megan brings hands-on STEM learning to life for our students — bringing the same genuine joy for teaching kids that first pulled her away from the hospital and into the classroom.
